Pickin' and a Grinnin'

Haley has been taking lots of steps lately and walking farther and farther each day, so I thought I would try and catch a few steps on video.  Well, instead of moving her legs she decides to stand there and hone her skills in a different past time altogether.  I giggle so hard I cry every time I watch it.  I hope you enjoy the talents of this little 1 yr old as much as I do.  I am in love with her!

FYI, it is the crumb of a "puff" that she picks up off the floor.  She was just eating them there a few minutes prior.

Making a diaper cake

With Amy Robinson and Heidi Kaiser

Rolling, rolling, rolling!

Adding ribbons and a decorative touch.

You can never have too much ribbon.

No monkey business here!

Gotta love glue that is hotter than the sun!

Adding the final touch with skillful precision.

Voila!  The final masterpiece.

All that diaper rolling sure can wear a kid out!

A petite petunia and a little piggy

We all loaded up and headed to the doctor today for our 3yr and 1yr check-ups.  Here is what we found out:

Hanna is and will forever be our sweet little munchkin.  She weighs a whopping 27 lbs and is 35 1/2 in tall, putting her in the 10th percentile for both.  Not surprising at all, but the doc said Haley may be bigger than Hanna some day.  Look out Hanna!  She was so sweet and polite and answered all of the doctors questions on her own.  She is doing a lot of things that most kids her age aren't (per the doctor).  I took that to mean that she is a regular genius ;-).  The only thing we need to do is encourage her to sit properly, "crisscross applesauce!"  Not another check-up until she is 4!

Haley weighs in at 20 lbs 8 oz which puts her in the 50th percentile.  She measures 29 3/4 inches tall which puts her in the 75th percentile for height!  She has a good sized head but I was surprised to find out that her head is a lot smaller than Hanna's was at this age.  The doctor was quite impressed with her monkey climbing abilities.  That baby was climbing up the walls!  She is now drinking cow's milk from a sippy, has 4 beautiful teeth, climbs up and down off the couch, and is still walking on her knees.  Next check-up, 15 months, complete with wonderful shots.

The big ONE!

Our little Haley turned one this past weekend!  We had her birthday party on Valentine's Day and did a heart theme with pinks and reds.  My Mom and Dad were able to come to the party and I am so appreciative that they made the trip out.  We celebrated with all of our closest friends and even got a surprise visit from Bart and Raven!  They flew in for the weekend to visit family and friends and didn't tell us, so when I saw them walking in the front door I was completely shocked.  It was such a great surprise.  Hanna was very excited to see them.  Thank you to everyone for celebrating this special day with us!  It wouldn't have been the same without you.

Haley has changed so much and has had a full year of firsts.  She is such a big girl and tries to do everything her big sister does.  She loves to eat and wants to try everything she sees.  Some of her favorites are yogurt covered raisins, goldfish crackers, blueberries, strawberries, bread, crayons and chap stick.  She is babbling like crazy and I know she is trying her best to communicate.  It will be fun and interesting to watch her over the next few months as she learns new things and explores her world.  She may be the baby of the family but she has a voice and wants to be heard!  She completes our family and we love her so so much!

Uncle Marco

Uncle Marco was in town on business and was able to squeeze in some time for us.  He came over Wednesday night and we grilled out steaks for him.  He came bearing tons of gifts for the girls sent from Aunt Heather.  And as always, he had some skittles for Hanna since he knows they're her fave.  Hanna loved getting to play with Marco and so did Jason (XBox).
We can't wait to visit Uncle Marco and Aunt Heather in Pittsburgh!

A weekend of birthdays

On Saturday, I took Hanna to her friend Emily's princess birthday party. It was fun to spend that time with just Hanna as I left Haley home with Daddy. I didn't take my camera but as princess parties go, it was very princess-y. All of the big names were there; Cinderella, Princess Aroura, Belle, Snow White in the form of wall hangings along with pretty pink toole tied up everywhere like a princess palace. They had a blow up bouncy house with a slide set up outside that kept the kids entertained for awhile. Hanna was a little hesitant to come down the slide on her own and this sweet little guy just swooped in and took her under his wing. He would follow her up there and then pull her over to sit in his lap. This went on for some time. When he finally had enough of being prince charming he just started pushing her on down by herself. She was fine with that but for some reason she would not come on down without that push.

On Sunday, our sweet little "Nichowas" turned three. Jason had to work so I took both girls with me to The Little Gym for some birthday fun. Hanna had a blast running and playing with her two boyfriends, Zach and Nicholas. Haley even got in on the fun and quite enjoyed herself "knee-ing" around and playing with balls. Nicholas was just beside himself the whole time. He seemed so proud to be celebrating his birthday with all of his closest friends (we missed you Kate!). We ended the party with some delicious Mickey Mouse cake and watched Nicholas open his presents. On our way home Hanna said, "That was a gooooood party. I yike Mickey Mouse parties. I wish I had a Mickey Mouse party." I think that says it all. Happy birthday Nick, we hope you had a great time!! Thank you for letting us be part of your big day!

Can you say CHEESE!

We let Haley loose with a cheesy, greasy, garlicky Pizza Hut breadstick the other night which she not only devoured but proceeded to smear it all over her face and into her hair, between bites of course. It's hard to see the oily sheen covering her face from the picture. There were bits of cheese and garlic laced in her hair and enough grease to hold a few strands straight up in the air. She seemed quite proud of herself that she got something to eat AND she moisturized.

Shopaholic

My friend Jessica told me about this website called shop it to me where you can plug in all your sizes and what types of clothing/accessories you might be interested in. You choose from tons of different clothing manufacturers and they will email you whenever said products go on sale. You can also enter in your little munchkins clothing preferences. How fun! I already get more junk email than I'd prefer but I'm going to give this a try and see what bargains come my way.
